Several aged men and women devotees faced many hardships to climb up the Indrakeeladri hill for a darshan of Goddess Kanakadurga on Saturday, the second day of the nine-day festival.
The pilgrims, mostly elderly people, are not able to walk in the lengthy queue lines. The queue line barricades start near the Vinayaka temple on Canal Road.
Rupavati, a middle-aged woman, said that she had undergone knee operation recently and was not able to climb the hill slope. She asked, “How could I show my knee to the security guards and seek permission to board the vehicle arranged by the temple authorities.” The vehicles arranged by the temple authorities for the elderly people, pregnant woman and the disabled are insufficient, complained many devotees. With the rush likely to increase in the coming days after the announcement of holidays to the schools and colleges, there is need to increase the number of vehicles for the devotees.
